Ultra-Expensive Condos Sell in Chicago’s Hottest Buildings in October

If you look at sales volume, Chicago condo sales were basically flat in October from the month previous, totaling $51 million. But what’s really noteworthy from last month’s condo sales are the ultra-luxury properties—of the 31 properties that sold, 9 sold in excess of $2 million. Not to mention, these sales were found in five of the most sought-after buildings in the city.

What makes a building stand apart from the rest? Buildings like those found in last month’s sales tend to well, have it all. Location. Views. Newness (in terms of construction, compared to other condos on the market). Many luxury condo buildings also carry architectural significance, and three of the buildings on this list—2550 Lakeview, 840 Lake Shore Drive and 270 Pearson—were designed by Lucien Lagrange, the beloved Chicago architect whose name is behind some of the city’s finest buildings.

Not only do the buildings themselves have plenty to offer, but the condos within them must stand apart as well, whether that’s via a great floor plan, incredible views, outdoor space or other upscale features. Last month’s most expensive condos sold each have their own set of distinguishing features—here’s a closer look at the top five in descending order.
